Hallo

In Switzerland we never had Tomos‘ with kick start, therefore parts are hard to find. Would someone sell me the necessary parts to convert a pedal engine to kick?

Bei uns in der Schweiz gab es die Tomos nie mit Kickstarter, deshalb sind Teile kaum zu finden. Kann mir jemand die Teile verkaufen, die ich brauche, um von Pedalen auf Kickstarter umzubauen?

Much parts of converting a pedal engine to a kickstart version are the same. Only the gripper, (single sided teeth), axel and engine/ gearbox cover have to be replaced. Furthermore, because of lacking pedals to place your feet on, you need to place a bracket/ subframe under the engine for steps to place your feet.

Viele Teile der Umrüstung eines Tretmotors auf eine Kickstart-Version sind gleich. Nur der Greifer (einseitige Zähne), die Achse und der Motor- / Getriebedeckel müssen ausgetauscht werden. Da keine Pedale zum Aufsetzen der Füße vorhanden sind, müssen Sie außerdem eine Halterung / einen Hilfsrahmen unter dem Motor anbringen, damit die Füße stufenweise aufgesetzt werden können.

Thanks Shadowranger for this info, I had also tried to find out what is different and in addition there is the lever assembly and the return spring I think. IIRC there was some spacer or washer also that I wasn't sure about.

However some of these parts are not cheap, especially the shaft, the gripper and the cover, therefore I'd be glad in case someone could provide used parts.

Why do you want to change from pedal to kickstart. There's is no real benefit to power etc., and maybe it's not legal to convert to kickstart in your country. Did you check this? There may be a reason to why Tomos in your country never delivered with kickstart.

The return spring for kickstartpedal and some parts to it i didn't mention, i'm sorry for that. Thnx for correcting me.

Back to the conversion: sometimes it's more conveniant to replace the engine in whole and keep your own engine apart ( maybe for revision). I know that it's more expensive and for shipping etc. also costst will be much higher.

Maybe someone can provide you with parts you need. Can you provide us with some pictures of your engine so we know what parts gou need. In the years some small changes had been made to engines and parts.

You're right, AFAIK it still isn't legal for street use, although I have seen a few nevertheless. However this project is not intended for street use in the first place.

It might be debatable but I think it is generally more comfortable with foot rests because both feet are level if you understand what I mean.

I'm open to offers. At the moment I don't have any picture ready but if it helps for now it is the engine with A52 cast into the crankcase. I might be wrong but I think only this kind of engine has ever been sold in Switzerland because here Tomos mopeds have not been sold at all before 2005.
