what performance do you gain from a hpi cdi?

Hi its my first post and i live in the US. I have a 2005 tomos lx and was wondering what gains would be seen from a hpi cdi and performance ignition. I dont speak dutch so if its already been explained sorry

Also i i have an airsal kit and want to see some pictures of how to match the transfer ports.

Your acceleration will be mutch better ...mutch better gas reaction...but beware for the power you will get,..it might damage your airsal cilinder kit...
you muts need an good spark plug ,...check your clutch weekly...if you use your moped every day its not smart to install this ignition on your tomos...could you explain your second question , than I will try to give the right answer,...

Ok i do ride my moped a lot so i guess i will pass on the cdi. The second question was to see some pictures of matching the engine cases to the airsal kit. Also what would the best carbeurator for this engine. I am already making a new intake manifold for a newer carb but i just want to know what carb is the best to buy and the easiest to tune. This is my moped

Carburateur: you can go and buy an 16/16 carburateur. This should run nicely together with you airsal kit. If you have the money, and are not worried about petrol consumption you can buy an 19mm carburateur by dell'orto. Dont tune your carburateur, it's quite useless in a way.

To create the transfer ports inlet you can best take the gasket from your airsal cilinder and draw with a highlighter or something the shape it shows onto your carters. (the metal part)

then with a dremel, or with a different machine cut this shape into the metal so more petrol can enter via your transfer ports.
This is not easy though, and if incorrectly done it can seriously harm your moped.

By the way; i love your petrol tank :O

I will fully disassemble the engine before using the dremel and do you know what jets to use for the dellorto 19mm? Do you think i should get another cylinder kit for daily use or is the airsal ok? And when i said tune the carb i meant making it run correctly and making the fuel mixture correct for the engine. Thanks

The jets that you have in your daily carburateur at the moment also fit in there.

The airsal is a good cilinder kit, if you want a better one. It is best to get a puch cilinder kit. Puch cilinder's are there in more variation and cc's. But overall i would say, stick with the airsal.

Yes i was thinking of getting a 80cc mk but i hear the tomos clutches tend to fall apart with it. What else do you think can be done to enhance performance. Thanks again with the help. Also is there anyway to buy an led taillight for my tomos? Wish i could read dutch! here is a pic of my moped about a year ago

OMFG! That's a bunch of bullsh*t! A HPI ignition doesn't EVEN give a performance boost, it only gives a better throttle reaction, and it's possible to run the engine at higher revs. Nothing more!

For daily usage I should recommend your 65cc Airsal cylinder with a 15 or 16mm dellorto carburator. Forget the 80cc MK, that's not even a direct fit

And yes, there are LED taillights for sale here, but i dunno if you can buy them in the usa too. Maybe you can call some electronic shop for creating a led taillight for you?

A HPI Ignition is a pricefull thing. I would only buy it when I had won the lottery

. Serieus, a original tomos CDI ignition is good enough for on the streets. You dont have to worry of the HPI causing damage to your clutch / engine. When rightly tuned, it will be something to enjoy (You may expect that for such a price)

And ofcourse, nice tomos, but please grind the engine/front light plastic off

...hier heb ik er 2 staan...alle 2 airsal 70 cc afgevlakte 70 kop ..alle 2 16 mm ...één met hpi en zonder hpi...
en waarom trekt die met de hpi onteking beter op...??..omdat het een binneroter is...misschien...
en hoe kan het als dat die met hpi om de 3 weekjes een setje 1e versnelling koppelingssegmenten er doorheen trekt?...
en lul aub niet dat het aan de koppeling ligt...want die zijn gewoon waardeloos van tomos...
ik laat het verder maar aan jullie over...mijn reactie word tog niet serieus genomen..
